Community Groups Explained

Introduction


To maximize engagement and create a welcoming environment for all members, setting up community groups that reflect the interests, needs, and goals of your members is crucial. These groups can be structured in various ways to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking.

 

Here are some explanations and sample types of Community Groups that you can use, as well as, privacy settings that affect these groups. 

Sample Types of Community Groups


  • Board of Directors:
    Dedicated space for your organization's leadership to collaborate, strategize, and share insights in a secure and confidential environment. This group is designed to foster open dialogue among board members, allowing for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and key decision-making processes that drive your organization's success. 
    • Privacy Setting: Secret
  • Special Interest Groups:
    A supportive space filled with like-minded individuals who share your passion for a specific hobby or passion.
    • Privacy Setting: Public
  • Membership Group:
    Dedicated space for your members to collaborate, update their profile, and add details to your membership directory.
    • Privacy Setting: Private | Allow Request To Join/Leave Group toggled off
  • Networking/Chapter Groups:
    Dedicated space for your members to network. idea share, and discuss upcoming local events.
    • Privacy Setting: Public or Private
  • Resource Groups:
    A place where you can house exclusive resources offered to your members.
    • Privacy Setting: Private | Allow Request To Join/Leave Group toggled off

Privacy Settings


  • Public: Anyone can join/leave the group and is visible to the end user.
  • Private: Anyone can see; however, in order to be a part of it, you must be added by an admin on the backend or be an existing member of a list within GrowthZone AMS.
  • Secret: You will only see this if you are an existing member of the group. Otherwise, you must be added on the backend in order to be visible to your members.
  • Allow Request to Join/Leave Group: We typically only see this toggled on for public groups that are not managed within the GrowthZone AMS. Private groups managed through GrowthZone should have this feature toggled off as group membership is dependent on list/committee membership. This feature is grayed out when the group is designated as ‘Secret’ as users can only be added on the back end.
